Tyson Invitational {Track}

02.22.10 | sports

I have been a bad blogger! I admit that sometimes it is hard for me to juggle the different  jobs that I have… Full time mom, full time photographer, full time household manager, full time cpa (for the man in my life’s business) and full time spouse of sorts.

Over Valentines weekend I spent two days shooting the Tyson Invitational for Mississippi State University. The Tyson Invitational is a two day indoor track meet featuring some of the nations top colligate athletes as well as some of the worlds top athletes.

It is always fun to shoot invitationals. They are a little more relaxed and often times feature some of the worlds most elite track and field athletes that are attached to the likes of Nike and the USA team.

Unfortunately, photographing indoor track comes with a price. High ISO which means a grainier image. Despite that you get the idea of just how strong and powerful these athletes are! Enjoy…

twice as nice {twins}

02.10.10 | newborn portraits

Check out these two little guys born a little over 3 weeks ago. They are as different looking as night and day. Griffin is the smaller of the two but the first born and Shepard or “Shep” is the big little brother shall I say. Did I mention I love their names? Each with their own look and own personality to boot. However,  both are as equally sweet.

Today I spent the morning photographing these twins and getting to know their mom Michele. Michele was kind enough to share her story of her first born son and second child, Max to whom she lost to SIDs when he was only 5 1/2 months. You see these two twins are two years in the waiting and have an ever special meaning I am sure in part because of Max. I left their home today feeling a bit lighter in step because of just how happy Michele is and how positive she is despite her loss. One of the things I enjoy most about photography is getting to know the people that make my images… often times they inspire me and they do not even know it.

I hope Michele, Parker and big sis enjoy their sneak peek and love the images as much as I do.

a look back {2009 newborns}

02.8.10 | newborn portraits

For those that know me and follow my work, you know that I absolutely love to photograph newborns. They are my m.o., my thing, the cats meow, and so on . If someone told me I had to choose one type of subject to photograph for the rest of my years and only one… well you guessed it, it would be newborns. Ever since the birth of my son Cohen I have not stopped photographing him. He changed so quickly and every moment is special and new. The excitement that surrounds a newborn cannot be recreated nor can their bendy body, new skin, or newborn look. I am honored when someone asks me to photograph their newborn in his or her first days. These photographs will be passed down from generation to generation, looked at over and over again, compared to the latest family addition and simply cherished for life times to come.

I wanted to share and honor some of my tiniest subjects from the past year… ( I know I am late, its February for pete sake!) Enjoy a look back at the babies I was able to get my hands on. They were all perfect in their own way!
